Thursday night dances

We had sooo many new faces Thursday night! Thank you to everyone that attended. We all had a great time. The theme for the night was beginner dances, and we went over the Electric Slide, Cupid Shuffle, Cotton Eyed Joe for the new folks.

We also covered:

1. Love Repeats(the new folks liked this one too even though it's not a beginner dance), done to "Love You Like A Love Song" by Selena Gomez
2. Swing Time Boogie (a little tricky for the experienced dancers due to the speed but they're getting it), done to "Swing City" by Roger Brown and Swing City

It's a 2010 line dance that, imho, is the best of the dances choreographed to Alex Swings Oscar Sings "Do the Cha Cha Cha".

Doris Volz's Line Dance Fun

A quick shout out to Doris Volz and her wonderful Line Dance Fun website. I've gone there for years to see what Doris and her fine folks have been doing.

I think it's a good thing when groups in different places try different dances instead of everyone just following the latest "top ten" dance list! Not only does it help expose the dances that otherwise would have been passed over, it's a great way to socialize with others by showing and "trading" dances.

On a related note, THANK YOU to the fine folks at the Jacksonville Daily News for doing a story on our line dancing class! Everyone was so excited and had a wonderful time. Chris and Don were very professional. And Chris... we thought it was great that you came out and did a dance with us (*which* dance we'll keep a secret for now).
